This is the time of year that many of you are making those New Years promises to yourself to finally get healthy, lose those extra holiday pounds, join a gym, go on a diet that lasts 2 weeks etc. etc.etc…

We are all so stressed and overwhelmed that these intentions can just add another layer of stress to our lives making them impossible to stick to.

What if, instead, you were to strive to live each day with more fun, play, movement, fresh air and relaxation?

What could that look like for you? 

Maybe it’s calling a friend and sharing a laugh, taking your dog or children to a park, leaving your sneakers in the car and taking a 5 minute walk during work or on your way home,  learning a new craft or resuming one that you haven’t done in a while. You could try a new, healthy recipe to make with your family, turn off the TV and blast your favorite music.  Whatever it is, make it simple and fun and just do it!!! 

So go grab Fido, get your daily planner out right now and add Fun and Play to your schedule. If you can’t find at least 15 minutes a day, it’s time to rethink your priorities.

Lessons From A Dog

1. Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joy ride.

2. Allow the experience of the fresh air and wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.

3. When loved ones come home, always run and greet them.

4. Let others know when they have invaded your territory.

5. When it’s in your best interest, always practice obedience.

6. Enjoy it when someone wants to rub your tummy.

7. Take naps and always stretch before rising.

8. Run, romp, and play daily.

9. Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.

10. Be loyal.

11. Never pretend to be something you’re not.

12. If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

13. When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.

14. Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

15. Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

16. Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

17. On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

18. When you are happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

19. No matter how often you are scolded/criticized, don’t buy into the guilt thing and pout. Run right back and make friends.
